Immediate Neighborhood
Laemya means grass cape or headland and is the name of the recently beautified national park that is partly on the mainland and partly on the island of Ko Samet . The park has a rich flora and fauna, including multi-colored birds, hummingbirds, all kinds of lizards, even a colony of monkeys (macaques). The area is accessible by car, bicycle and motorcycle but there are also short walking trails. There is a small restaurant overlooking Ko Samet. The area outside the park is also very worthwhile driving through.
Laemya Inn is located adjacent to this area, approximately 100 metres from a 12 kilometre-long sandy beach on the tsunami-safe Gulf of Thailand. It's a beautiful beach for walking, jogging or swimming and watching the fascinating squirrels of many colors in the generous shade and shelter of the pine trees. The neighborhood is authentic. Between Laemya Inn and the beach there is no busy, main road. Children can walk safely ahead of you to the beach.
In the surrounding area, you can enjoy the local and easy atmosphere in the restaurants. Fishlovers in particular will have a good time in the simple restaurants where fresh fish, crab and lobster are served. Fishing boats are still
there. You should book a table at the weekend because it's a popular location for Thai people.
Of course there are also restaurants to satisfy different tastes. And if you don't feel like eating Thai food, there are more western venues like McDonald's and KFC in the "Laemthong" shopping mall in Rayong.
Ban Phe is a popular resort among Thai people. Many people from Bangkok, or duing the holidays from the rest of Thailand, like to travel to Ban Phe. Most spend one or more days on the beautiful island of Koh Samet. Fortunately, the number of visitors is limited by the government at major holidays.
